1/23/25 Highlight: Girls’ Varsity Basketball
By LYDIA KUHNERT and CAROL LEE
This week, the girls’ varsity basketball team competed against Deerfield, winning the match in a resounding 57-36 victory. An incredibly strong performance and the win hopefully points to many more to come from an impressive team.
Often, we are told to go and cheer for Exeter athletics, and to maintain a positive attitude. For prep Haylie Regan, the support received from her fellow Big Red athletes made all the difference in this match. “The girl’s ice hockey team came and watched, and the energy went way up. We started scoring back to back, and went on a very big run,” she said.
Regan went on to comment on the season thus far, saying, “It’s going well, the games haven’t all been going the way we want, but the team has had many learning experiences and a lot of time to bond together.” With a record of 2-5, the team has had both ups and downs but is pushing itself to improve at each practice.
Prep Sarika Agarwalla agreed, keeping an optimistic outlook on their development. “We still have over half the season left to go, so I think we will definitely improve. We’re hustling up and down the floor, sprinting as hard as we can, which is some great effort.”
The team’s next game is against Milton Academy on Friday, Jan. 24. Make sure to come out and support Big Red in what is sure to be a riveting game!
