1/23/25 Highlight: Boys’ Varsity Basketball

By MARYN BOWMAN and MAGGIE KOTKOWSKI

On Saturday, Jan. 18, the boy’s varsity basketball team faced off against Choate in what might have been their most difficult game yet.

“It is going to be a battle versus a good class-A team,” senior captain Tyler Bike said. “Every time we play them, it’s a tough game and we must be well prepared and play together.”

The game ended with a win of 66-53, continuing the team’s undefeated streak. It also brought in head coach Jay Tilton’s 200th win as the head coach of the team. Tilton has been leading the team since 2009. However, he was an assistant for nine years prior to that. Throughout his time with the basketball program, he has gotten a total record of 200-92.

Even though they’re undefeated, the team has to make sure not to get too comfortable in their position. “I would say our goal was to just continue to play how we are capable of playing.” Bike said when asked about the matter. It’s easy to get cocky when on a winning streak, but the basketball team seems to be continuing to bring their best to every game.

The three captains, Ryder Frost, Max Albinson, and Tyler Bike, are all honored to lead their team through this winning streak. But Bike added one final point, “Although we have the label as captains, everyone is a captain and leader in their own way, and I want to spread that message.”
