2/13/25 Highlight: Boys’ Varsity Ice Hockey
By AMERSON LIANG and KEVIN THANT
On Saturday, Feb. 8, the boys’ varsity ice hockey team faced off against the Tilton School for the second time this season. Tensions were high as the team narrowly lost 1-2 in overtime in the previous game.
“This was a big game for us,” said Senior Will Cavanagh, with redemption being the central narrative “We had played them earlier in the year, and we needed this game.” The game had started well for Exeter, but at the end of regulation, the game was tied with Tilton at 2-2. Dryden Dervish and Brendan McCarthy, both found the back of the net in regular time.
Despite a hard-fought battle, Big Red eventually conceded 2-3 during overtime. “It was a tough game that slipped away from us.” Cavanagh elaborated, “We nearly had it.” The loss was har, especially following a 2-3 loss again in overtime on Wednesday against the Holderness school. Big Red is now 9-12-1 for the season and they face Albany Academy in Friday Night Lights. Come support what will be sure to be an important game.
