2/06/25 Highlight: Girls’ Varsity Hockey

By  LYDIA KUHNERT and ANDREW YANG

This past Saturday, the girl’s varsity ice hockey team competed against Loomis Chaffee, unfortunately conceding the fixture 2-4 after a difficult match.

This season, the team holds an extremely impressive record of 10-4-1, securing wins against schools such as Lawrence Academy, Holderness School, and Proctor Academy.

Prep June Koh reflected on the match, saying, “Everyone played really well up until the last second, and tried hard. I think it was one of our better games, as this team wasn’t easy to play against, and we were toe-to-toe with the team.”

When the team first scored, the momentum of the game completely shifted, and for Koh, it was the defining moment of the match. “It really pumped up our mood, and we were very excited to play, and we all tried really hard from then on.”

Prep Clara Cary agreed, “The bench energy was so loud and encouraging which made the energy and effort in the game so much better.”

Koh then went on to praise the close bonds team members have with each other all season, saying, “Everyone loves playing ice hockey. No one cares how old you are. Everyone’s really tight-knit, it’s a close community. The upperclassmen really do help us, and we continue to grow from that.”

Cary added, “Our team has such a family-like dynamic. We are so supportive of each other and always have each other’s back throughout the good and the bad.”

After a hard but rewarding game, Koh concluded, “This was not an easy team, but we still stood strong against them, and everyone was really on their toes, excited for everything. Our team spirit was great.”

The team’s next match is on Saturday against Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols School.
