1/30/25 Highlight: Indoor Track and Field
By AMERSON LIANG and MELIA THIBAULT
This past Saturday, Jan. 25, athletes from schools in and around the area gathered in the fieldhouse for none other than an indoor track meet. The event featured many different events, from sprinting to relays to shot put to high jump. Throughout the meet, there were many key moments and standout performances from Exeter athletes in all types of events.
There were many notable events at the meet. Prep Ved Reddy noted, “It was a running event. It was a relay with Pearce Covert, Owen Cosgrove, Dash Seals, and Nathi Lomax. We were in fifth place until the last leg of the event, run by Pearce. He was able to catch up and take first place at the end, letting us win the event.”
Reddy also shouted out a performance from another teammate. “One other shout-out I want to give is Joshua Mullen — he had a good performance. He ran the 1500 and was in the second heat. In the last lap, he was in third, then he passed two people and ended first.”
Senior Steph Handte echoed this sentiment. “We put in all our effort, and I think that showed in the way that we performed. While I don’t really know how we ranked at the meet, I do know that a lot of individuals did get a personal record and that’s the most important part.”
All in all, indoor track and field had a great performance. They only have two more meets left in the term, so if you want to watch them, make sure to keep an eye on them. Senior Jalen Bennett, a member of the team also just placed first at the Puma New York International Showcase! Congratulations to him and good luck to the entire team for the rest of their season.
