On Oct. 28, Exeter’s boys’ junior varsity basketball team played Choate at home, seeking their fifth win of the season. While it was a close game, tied at halftime, Exeter pulled ahead near the end to secure a 73-64 victory.

Choate came in with a strong team. Prep Lucas Sanson stated, “Choate had many varsity swings, so they were a strong team.”

Yet, Exeter’s team came back with a strong response. “We had a lot of effort and energy. It was a back-and-forth game but we kept fighting,” noted Sanson.

Prep Richard Byun further added, “We rebounded, we boxed out, we ran the court, and we shot well. Overall we played really well as a team.”

Byun pointed out the team’s improvement. “As a team we had to focus a lot on turnovers which we successfully limited, having only four turnovers the whole game.” He also attributed part of the team’s success to Sanson. “His shotmaking ability was really important that game; he made six clutch free throws down the stretch to close out the game.”

“It was a really fun game and the crowd was electric,” concluded Sanson. The team’s effort paid off as they secured their fourth consecutive win.
