On Dec. 14, the girls’ and boys’ winter track teams competed in a track meet here in Exeter. Although many people were missing in the meet and this was the first track meet of the season, the team is off to a strong start.

This track meet only took a portion of the whole track team, where many strong runners missed out. Prep Max Loghinov shared, “They were pretty good but we could have definitely done better since there were many sprinters out for the meet.”

Prep Daniel Lee added,  “There were quite a lot of injuries before the meet, so there were many people missing in the meet.”

Although there were so many people unable to attend the meet and a large amount of injuries, the track teams won several events, scoring high overall.

Lower Summer Mansfield said, “In today’s meet, the boys’ 4x200 won by a great amount. We finished seconds before any other teams crossed the finish line.”

Loghinov also said, “Alex Harwich did really well in his meet. I heard that he did well on all of his events.”

Overall, while the whole team did not participate in the meet, it was a valuable opportunity for many new or returning track runners.

Mansfield said, “We just started the season a few weeks ago, and everyone is just getting out there, getting back into their events, and for many people, it was their first track meet.”
