12/19/24 Highlight: Girls’ Varsity Basketball
By ARYAN AGARWAL and JADE YOO
On Friday, Dec. 13, the varsity girls’ basketball team lost, with a 30-82 defeat at Loomis Chaffee. Friday’s match followed a 38-62 loss in the previous week with opponents Choate Rosemary Hall.
However, the team kept a positive mindset. Post-graduate Ava Bryan echoed this statement, “Some key moments were executing our plays, and seeing some of the girls who may not get as much playing time be able to play was fun to watch.”
Despite the loss, the team is keeping their heads up and training with great effort for their next few games. Bryan said, “Nobody wants to lose like that, but we learned a lot about ourselves as a team and it will help us push forward through the rest of the season.”
Bryan shared the team’s vision for the rest of the season, expressing, “For the rest of season, I think we will just take it game by game, opponent by opponent, learn from our mistakes, and grow as a team in the process. Obviously it is always a goal to make the playoffs, but we have a lot of girls who haven’t played together before, so improving our chemistry and learning together will help us the most.”
Big Red now sits with a record of 1-2 in this season. The team will travel to Buckingham, Browne, & Nichols this Saturday.
