On Saturday, Oct. 26, the boys’ varsity soccer team traveled to St. Paul’s School(SPS), returning with a massive win for Big Red, beating SPS 4-1. Saturday’s match was a solid showing, continuing the team’s strong form following a 7-0 win against Dexter Southfield the week prior. The team extended their three-game winning streak, their record then sitting at 7-6-2 for the season.
“I think we were confident going into the game after our two previous wins,” lower Joshua Mullen said. “We put on a really great performance, stuck to our fundamentals, and played the game that we know best.”
Mullen continued “One of the best moments I remember was when one of our players crossed it into the box and a player from SPS headed it into their own goal. Our team was definitely happy with the win, being able to pull out a big result against a good team.”
Varsity Captain, Senior Sebastian Hiller, said “This win is huge for us, especially as we head into the final stretch of the season. It’s given us a big confidence boost, and I think it will really propel us forward.”
As the team moves towards the end of the regular season, chances at the playoffs become a real possibility. Mullen said “The win just means we’re a step closer to the playoffs, and I think our entire team is ready to put in the effort in order to get the furthest we can.”
Hiller concluded, “With this momentum, our playoff chances look even better, but we’re not getting carried away. We’ve got to keep working hard, stay grounded, and take it one game at a time. The attitude now is all about building on this — we know we can handle the pressure, and that resilience is going to be our edge going forward.”
Big Red, stronger than ever, will be playing on the road against Andover for E/A on Nov. 9, where they will look to beat our rivals.
