On Oct. 26, the girls’ varsity volleyball team continued their perfect winning streak of 9-0 by going head-to-head with St. Paul’s School. The team had a challenging start, but recovered to lead comfortably through most of the match and ended with a 3-0 victory.
“At the beginning, we were down one to seven, and St. Paul’s had insanely high energy that brought morale down,” recalled co-captain Clare McCann, who had three aces and ten kills. “So we had to really make an effort to get back up, which we did.”
Many things went well in the game. Upper Maya Illangovan—who had four kills—reflected, “The game overall worked as planned. I think we had more experience compared to the other team, so we got to try different sets and things that we wouldn’t have in a tough game.”
Illangovan mentioned some areas to improve: “I think we could have probably worked on serving, receiving, and getting our passes up.”
The team is continuing its success in a flawless season as the term comes to a close. Their well-seasoned experience and coordination are helping their success.
