How to End the Year Right

Exonians, it may not seem like it, but the end is upon us! Finals week is about to be in full swing, and soon we will depart from the Academy for three blissful months (or, for us non-seniors, three months spent trying to build up our college applications or bank accounts). But, we must remember that we are in the home stretch and not home free just yet. There are little odds and ends that every Exonian must take care of before running out of here, and lucky for you, the Humor Page is here to help you prepare your journey. 1. Pack up your room. This may seem obvious, and mandatory, but you’d be surprised at what you can accumulate over the span of a year. All of those B- history papers and D+ math tests suddenly pop up in every corner of your room. You’ve never realized how much clothing you have, and consider throwing it all away just so you don’t have to put it in a bin or suitcase. Lowers, Uppers and Seniors, this might be a good time for you to take advantage of the preps in your dorms and have them “help” you out. 2. Perform all Exonian-like activities.Jump off a bridge, turn in a massive history paper, go on a real date (EP). Even if you’re coming back next year, it’s never too early to get started on your real graduation requirements. 3. Cry.Again, this may seem obvious, but if Exeter has taught me one thing, it’s to find different meanings in every action. This is not limited to my own crying. For some of you, this may seem like a regular day activity, but at least you can have an excuse this time. Cry if you’re graduating. Cry if you’re not graduating. Cry if you’re a prep who will actually have work next year. Just cry. There are probably more things you should do to end the year, but those are pretty much optional. Who needs to study for, or pass, final exams? Not you, because you’re almost on summer break! In all seriousness, however, we’re almost done. Hang in there, and not because you want to, but because you kind of have to.
