2/20/25 Highlight: Girls’ Varsity Squash

By ELLINA KIM and JUNE KOH

On Wednesday, Feb. 12, the girls’ varsity squash team competed against Dana Hall School in a series of eventful matches that concluded in a 4-3 win for Big Red. Each member of the team contributed to this win by working hard, cheering each other on, and staying focused.

The team, coming off of two dominant wins, was eager to get back onto the court and play tough. Lower Chloe Lind complimented Dana Hall’s tenacity on the court, “They went for every single ball and didn’t let up until they were practically sliding onto the court floor for shots.”

The team had to work harder than they thought they would to pull out a win, but every player rose to the occasion. Upper Tiffany Sun highlighted the teams’ camaraderie on the court despite the difficult matches, “My teammates and captains were supportive and encouraged me to get on the court confident and ready to win.”

Lind echoed her sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the captains’ support after a tough first match. “Aria, one of our senior captains, was supportive during my match and coached me between games. She told me to slow it down and focus on leveraging my strengths.”

The final win was bittersweet. Lind commented, “Unfortunately, we dropped down to Division C despite beating them when we were under the impression that if we beat them we would play in Division B at Nationals. However, now there is a fair chance that we can come out of Nationals this weekend with a Division Title!”

The team continues their impressive season in Philadelphia for the 2025 U.S. National Squash Championships. Lind concluded, “The team has had a bit of a mental setback lately, so I think what’s important now is getting our mental game and effort focused and sharp this week before we leave.”

Make sure to send your support and cheers to this remarkable Big Red team as they take on Nationals!
