On Saturday, Jan. 11, the Exeter boys’ varsity basketball team squared up against the New Hampton School Huskies at Love Gym. “Coming out of break and not playing for a couple weeks is hard,” captain and senior Tyler Bike said heading into the game. “We’ve had a good week of practice leading up to this game, so our expectations are just like any other game — go out there to compete and win.” Throughout the week, the captains kept the team confident and focused on their goal.

The boys walked away with a 66-45 win over New Hampton. Bike commented on the happenings within the game, saying, “We connected on all cylinders. There were some moments that made the game a little funky, but we stuck together and stayed solid.”

Despite being the first game after the break and with less practice than normal, the boys’ basketball team showed a great effort and it paid off, beating the Huskies by over 20 points. In preparing for the game, the team recognized New Hampton as a formidable opponent, with Bike saying, “New Hampton is a very talented, athletic group so the whole game is going to be challenging. We must stick together and play how we are capable of playing in order to compete at a high level.”

The next home game for Boys basketball will be against Choate on Jan. 18 at 1:30 PM. Be there or be square. Go Big Red!
