11/14/24 Highlight: Boys’ Varsity Water Polo
By KEVIN THANT and ARJUN VELAN.
Exeter’s boys’ varsity water polo team traveled to Andover this Wednesday before E/a weekend. This wasn’t the historical rivals’ first time meeting in the pool this season, though. In their first matchup, Big Red’s second game of the season, the boys won with a score of 18-5. Their most recent matchup, however, was one of the last games the seniors would play in their Exeter careers, and they all started.
“It was memorable to see all the seniors have their names announced,” prep Owen Lee said.
The game started pretty evenly in the first quarter, but a high-powered offense led Exeter to power past Andover, and Big Red overcame them by six points with a final score of 13-7.
“The game doesn’t have much impact on our overall season. But it serves as a pretty good morale booster going into inter-schools,” Lee commented.
The water polo team looks to cap their season with interschols next week, and two wins against historic rivals will serve as a morale boost to a potential excellent finish of the season.
