10/31/24 Highlight: Boys’ Varsity Soccer

By MICHELLE CHOO, JINMIN LEE, and JAYDEN OH

On Oct. 26, the boys’ varsity soccer team traveled to St. Paul’s School for a seasonal game. Although they initially found it challenging to pierce their opponent’s defense, the tides of the game changed after their first goal, allowing them to finish with a 4-1 victory.

“The game went well,” said senior and co-captain Henry Xue. “It was a windy day, but I liked the conditions. We scored a goal in the first half, which gave us momentum. We scored three goals after that in about five minutes. It was a solid performance from everyone.”

Senior and co-captain Jaylen Bennett concurre. “It was difficult to penetrate their defense because they had a high line, which led to some off-sides. However, the cross-in allowed us to score one goal, which brought the tides to our favor. Everyone in the team held on strong.”

“I want to shout out Sophian Lovato for scoring the first goal,” continued Bennett. “Everyone else did well, too.”

Overall, the team is continuing to score wins throughout their season, defeating challenging opponents.
