On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the varsity field hockey team triumphed over Austin Preparatory School with a 3-0 victory, securing a third consecutive win within their season.
Taking a clean pass from senior Natalia Ulbin, lower Luvy Danielson secured the team’s first goal in the first quarter. This early lead only fueled Exeter’s momentum, driving an aggressive offense as they pushed to dominate the field.
Senior Clare Stewart-Selvan subsequently scored standing close to Austin Prep’s goal, immediately after a corner opportunity for the team—a unique rule in field hockey that allows the attacking team to shoot with limited defensive pressure if the defending team has committed a foul within their shooting circle.
Lower Catherine Miller finalized the victory with a precise shot from the top of the shooting circle, landing the ball within the goal’s right post.
This big win was vital for the team’s season moving forward as they continue to build upon their already impressive record.
Despite a tough game against Brooks School this past Saturday, in which they lost 2-5, the team now turns its attention to their next matches against Kimball Union Academy and St. Paul’s School, determined to make a strong comeback, as they have before.
