Trendwatch

Hey, Trendsetters!

The MTV movie awards just went by this past Saturday, and we have a list of our favorite looks! Lizzy Caplan stole the spotlight in her sequin Sally LaPointe black dress. Charlize Theron looked stunning in her slightly see through Alexander Mcqueen dress and black Jimmy Choo sandal heels. Kendall Jenner looked sexy in her black Kristian Aadnevik dress and thigh high gladiator heels. Halsey brought a touch of spring to the event with her pastel pink and gold jacket, shorts and bra all custom made by Idan Cohen.

This week, Henrietta Reily ’17 looked stylish in her oversized tweed coat, scarf, skinny jeans and sneakers. Abel Ngala ’18 kept it cool in a white Exeter baseball jersey and a pair of white converse. Nolan Peacock ’17 looked comfortable and casual in his dark green cotton sweater, light blue denim and white Superga sneakers. Erica Hogan ’18 was both simple and elegant in a classic white shirt, jeans and nude flats. Heather Nelson ’16 looked cozy and chic in her oversized cardigan, gray fitted crop top and black high-waisted skinny jeans.

Now that the temperature is rising and we are transitioning into spring, we can start wearing our beloved shorts, sandals, skirts and dresses! Some of the trends that we see in the Spring 2016 runway shows are dresses and tops with shoulder cutouts that will add an interesting detail to your outfit. Slip dresses are also really in this season; not only are they comfortable, but they are also extremely versatile and easy to layer. Stripe pattern outerwear, pants, skirts and tops are also seen on multiple runway shows such as Dior, DKNY,  Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood Spring 2016. A pair of striped pants or a striped blouse might be just what you need to create that unique outfit. For this season, you can never go wrong with a white top that might have an interesting silhouette or detail, for they are a closet basic and a good foundation piece for you to build your outfit out of.

Speaking of white, we have seen that all white shoes are showing up in the outfits of many fashion influencers and students on our campus! Like the white tops that we mentioned earlier, you can also never go wrong with a pair of clean all white shoes this spring, whether it be white sneakers, heels, sandals, flats or loafers. Not only only is white a neutral color that can be paired with everything, but the all white shoes can easily make your simple outfit, such as a basic blouse and a pair of jeans, look stylish and chic.

We hope that you have a bright and sunny rest of the week!

Stay stylish,

Caroline and Tanya
