Hey trendsetters! We hope you guys have settled in nicely and are slowly getting back into the groove of Exeter life. Although it’s definitely autumnal these days, we’ve been lucky enough to get some beautiful and sunny days before students will have to start shelling out sweaters and boots. This week, Claire Dauge-Roth ‘17 took full advantage of the last few days of summer and wore a gorgeous white boho dress with a cardigan and scarf. It was the perfect blend of the seasons; you go, Claire! David Larar ‘16 also looked great while keeping it classy with a purple shirt and tie combination, taking us back to the good old days of wearing ties every day. Abe Kopun ‘16 wore a crisp button down with delicate detail stitching, and he pulled the look together with European skinny pants. Julia Goydan ‘18 was rocking a gorgeous navy and white fit and flare dress, playing up a feminine silhouette. StuCo president Rebecca Ju ‘16 looked great in a floaty purple dress paired with a chambray button up.New York Fashion Week is currently happening, and we are getting to know all the gorgeous looks for the Spring/Summer season of 2016. As in the fall, crimson is hugely popular once again, dominating the runways of the week so far. Oscar de la Renta delivered his usual chic silhouettes, working in delicate lace detailing and bold, gothic colors. Although these colors are typically reserved for the colder seasons, designers have been breaking down walls and including them in the summer mix; Saloni developed beautiful dark floral prints, while Tori Burch kept it simple with dark accents on lighter ensembles. On a more highstreet level, the 70s look is still current, especially with western twists added. It inspires a boho feel reminiscent of Free People, who coincidentally launched a lookbook perfectly portraying the style. It was filled with suede, fringe, paisley, bolo ties and bell sleeves. Pair with a sleek bottoms for a modern take on things, or go all out and release the inner hippie! Finally, we’d like to introduce you to some of this season’s most anticipated trends: graphic dresses, military jackets and velvet accessories. We’ve spotted them on runways all around the world as well as heavily mentioned on popular fashion blogs. Velvet especially is making a comeback this season, as it was a central texture in the F/W Valentino collection as well as Chloe’s. Integrated with lace and bohemian cuts, it is easily combined with the aforementioned 70s trend and would look amazing on campus, especially as the days will get colder!Until next week,Julia and Lexi
