Trendwatch

Hey, trendsetters!

This week has been a bit more gloomy, but luckily, you guys have not disappointed in terms of fashion. Jonathan Regenold ‘15 started off the week beautifully in a fully white outfit—a crisp white Oxford paired with white shorts with tropical stitching. Jun Park ‘16 also looked fabulous in a muted ensemble in which he paired a series of blue tones with a white Oxford. Zaidee Laughlin ‘16 looked casually chic in a blue button down dress and a pair of black boots. Wearing a bold, navy floral sundress, Megan Smith ‘16 added some sunshine to campus with her cheery ensemble.

There have been several teas this past weekend, and matching couples have been brightening everyone’s moods! A couple of our favourite looks included Raul Galvan ‘17 and Lara Galligani’s ‘18 coordinated yellows—keep on shining! Seniors Phillip Chang ‘15 and Janet Chen ‘15 also looked breathtakingly cute in matching hues of blue at Knight House Tea. In their “Sunnyside” pink and green Lilly Pulitzer print, Lily Hayes ‘15 and Ryan Magnuson ‘15 looked adorable.

‘Tis the season of red carpet events, and this week, the Cannes Film Festival definitely rivals the Met Ball. Held in Cannes, France, the event has been filled with classy neutrals, bold solids and blinding sparkles. With 12 days full of red carpet events in France, how could we not spot amazing ensembles? Now, to the best dressed. Daria Strokous looked stunning in a figure-flattering, powder blue gown with a high neckline. Its silk side panels turned this simple piece into a showstopper at the De Grisogono party. At the opening ceremony, Lupita Nyong’o stood out in a deep v-neck, custom, jade Gucci dress. Also at the opening ceremony, Naomi Watts donned a monochromatic, grey Ellie Saab dress. The intense textures of the feather skirt of and sparkle top created a unique ensemble.

Queens Beyonce and Nicki Minaj just released their video for “Feeling Myself.” In it, they rock vivid colours and look absolutely ravishing. The brightness certainly inspired us to bring out some more bold choices—the beginning of summer is now only exactly one month away after all! If the video has one message for this season’s wardrobe, then it is to definitely not shy away from dramatic, colourful prints. They add a casual and sassy attitude to any outfit, which is often much needed at a preppy place like Exeter.

Till next week!

xoxo,

Lexi and Julia
