Hello fashion-inclined friends,This week in the real world, contemporary denim brand ACNE, broke into the lingerie scene with an underwear line! From boxers to thongs, and even some high waisted styles (in only various nude tones), ACNE has expanded itself while still remaining true to the overall aesthetic of the brand. The line was also shot by no other than Ryan McGinley, an iconic photographer who has mentored many up and coming artists such as Sandy Kim and Petra Collins, of Rookie fame. Also, we would like to wish T, the New York Times' style magazine, a happy 10th birthday! Though we could not be part of the lavish celebration at Christie's, we toasted to everybody in our hearts.Over here in Exeter, we spotted some versatile fall looks, perfect for taking a 45 degree morning into a 77 degree afternoon. Phil Louis '17 was spotted in a comfortable brown and blue isiagu while he made his way to class. Olivia Draper '15 also kept it casual in a burgundy tank, geometric turquoise maxi skirt, and a rough, gold statement necklace.Ella Werthan '15, donned an elegant, patterned tunic with bright orange trim and a gold chained bracelet, with a white ribbon woven through, completed with a white tassel clasp. If you’re looking for a few fashion ideas to spice up your life, especially as the dreary winter months approach us, psychedelic looks are trending! So don’t be afraid to throw a little patchwork or tie-dye into your outfit. We also love that metal accents are super cool this season. Whether on a bag, belt or jewelry, simple hardware accents can make for a sleek look. For you cool guys out there who want to change things up a bit, try wearing a biker jacket instead of a blazer for a super cool look. This past week, we also had some students bring up a few fashion questions so we decided we would answer them here….Q: I have a pair of olive pants and I never wear them. What dress shirt and tie could I pair with them?A: We would suggest pairing them with a simple printed button down and dark tie for a sleek look. Don’t wear red on top though because you might look like a hot Christmas mess.Q: It’s hard to decide whether or not to wear a dress or pants with this transitional weather. How should I make the call?A: Since it’s not too chilly yet, we would suggest wearing a simple dress (not too summery) with a chunky oversized sweater and boots. That way, you’re legs won’t get too cold in the morning and you can shed the sweater when it gets warmer in the afternoon.Q: The hems of my pants are too wide at the bottom for my liking. How can I fix this without buying skinnier pants?A: Try a pin cuff-- simply fold the wide part of the pant over and roll it up like you would any cuff. Easy and looks good!Q: How do I wear a polo with a tie?A: You don’t.Q: I want a fresh coat. Any ideas?A: Shearling is back this season! A simple coat with shearling details makes for a great new look. Going along with the shearling theme, faux fur coats are also in and super classy. If you’re looking at buying one, just be careful that the fur doesn’t look cheap. If you want to make a statement, a cool plaid peacoat or blanket coat makes for an edgy look. We also love oversized coats!
