Trendwatch

Hello Exeter! After a busy week of midterms and due dates galore, this week’s clear fall weather will hopefully spark some well-needed life into our mid-fall ensembles. With cold weather finally settling in, we’re looking for anything and everything, but try and surprise us with something other than the usual leggings and chunky sweater paired with L.L. Bean boots. Also, time to work in those fall colors, like vibrant oranges or classic neutrals.Upper and senior guys stole the footwear game this week with Scott Heston ‘14 spotted in between classes with a wonderful pair of light brown, low-cut Brogue shoes that perfectly matched the fall foliage along the paths. When told that he looked great, Scott replied “I know.” On the other hand, uppers Josh Martinez ‘15 and James Glass ‘15 also rocked two pairs of perfect fall shoewear. Josh’s low-cut, chestnut-colored leather Oxford shoes added a classic touch to an everyday dress code shirt and tie, also reflecting our campus’ end-of-fall hues. James, on the other hand, sported ankle-high suede boots in a unique blue-grey color that epitomized a casual fall look, completed with a pair of cuffed light-washed jeans.Halloween is just around the corner, and we love it when Exonians aren’t afraid to show a little nerdy holiday spirit. We spotted Miguel Perez-Glassner ‘17 doing just that earlier in the week. This bold prep pulled out the usual blue oxford, but he matched it with a jack-o-lantern-spotted tie. These little pumpkins were small enough that they didn’t overwhelm us, but still added a festive touch to his look.We like to spread the love between different students, but we have to mention a trendwatch favorite, Saisha Talwar ‘15. Saisha graced the hallways of Exeter this week wearing a piece usually reserved for boys: a charcoal turtleneck. Of course, she gave it a girly touch with her signature jeweled necklace. This girl never fails to make bold fashion choices, which paired with her pretty smile makes her one of the most stunning girls on campus.Perhaps trying to raise student morale during midterm and college app season, the lovely lady of the English department chose fun polka dot patterns this week. Mrs. Burke-Hickey chose polka dots, except she layered blues. Her outfit shouted sharp, yet fun, with blue and white polka dot chinos, a white button down and a navy cardigan. We know what you’ve all been waiting for: the first selection for bachelor/bachelorette of the week. This week, we had to go with one of our favorite girls on campus—Madge Tan ‘14. This California gem has it all: amazing squash skills, an impeccable sense of fashion and a charming sense of humor. Did we mention that she’s also gorgeous? Boys, we have to say, you’re lucky she’s single, cause she’ a real catch. Helpful hint: she has a sweet tooth for French macarons. Where you get those in Exeter? D squared, if you're lucky. Until next week, stay classy and stay comfy, and don’t forget to send in bachelor/bachelorette nominations! Elle, Alec and Mia
