Brainrot Dictionary

By AUDREY KIM‘28

Listen up all lowers, uppers, seniors, and postgraduates. The preps have created our own dictionary of sorts, and this article is your study guide to mastering the art of Gen Alpha Slang. Maybe you will be able to perfect the language of the preps, and join us in our land of Brainrot. Hopefully, you study this thoroughly because there might be a pop quiz after this…

I JUST WANNA BE PART OF YOUR SYMPHONY!!! - A reference to the song Symphony by Clean Bandit and online this sound is typically followed by dolphins jumping over an ocean with rainbows in the background. This phrase is usually stated at random silences during a conversation.

Skibbidi - This is one of the difficult words to decipher, since it relies on context.

You didn’t thank Beyonce - Whenever you do something good, you better thank and dedicate Beyonce! This is said to remind others to thank her! (Thank you Beyonce for giving me inspiration to write this!)

Purple Heart - When you say something, just put the last word in all caps and add a purple heart! It’s just there 💜, no reason why. This was taken from donatella VERSACE 💜 who decided to do this very randomly, making it a very funny moment in internet HISTORY 💜.

Watch me cook - This is just saying to wait, since you are about to do something incredible. This is said often when doing an activity or a cool trick.

Demure - So if you don’t know this word, go online and search it up, because it’s not very cute, not very mindful, and not very demure of you to know this word. The origins of this trend began when someone commented on her makeup and commented how demure it was.

Rizz - One of the common words, and is short for charisma. It can also indicate that someone is attractive or is suave enough to attract a lot of people

Erm…ackshually - If you want to correct anyone, add this before whatever you say. This will cause everyone to completely believe in what you say! (Usually followed by the nerd emoji)

Mogging - When you meet someone that is significantly more successful or intelligent, this is the word you can use to describe them. This word came from the term AMOG which stands for Alpha Male of the Group.

Cope - Similar to “Womp womp,” kinda means deal with it, because it is a situation that you were put in. Use it when someone is in an un-ideal situation.

Sigma - A word to describe people that you know that are absolutely amazing.

POP QUIZ TIME!!

Translate this paragraph from Gen Alpha to “normal”

Andover did not thank Beyonce, and they are now gonna watch us cook and serve. Whenever you feel unmotivated, play KSI’s new song! From the screen, to the ring, to the pen, to the king! We will absolutely mog them, cuz we are the skibbdi rizzlers. If Andover thinks that they are the demure ones, erm ACKSHUALLY, they’re gonna have to cope because we are going to eat! We will destroy them because we are the sigmas. We can do IT 💜. I thank Beyonce for allowing me to write this article.

Answer:

We are so much better than Andover!! We are totally going to beat our enemies Andover during E/A!
