Summer Coming, Students Feel Trickle of Hope
Last Saturday, something shocking happened. While students trudged back to their dorms at 12:50 p.m., feeling betrayed by the stringency of their Saturday classes, they all collectively had a realization. It started with a warm feeling on their skin—tingling, sweaty, soft. It continued with their eyes adjusting to the green they were seeing—for the first time since October. The students realized, slowly but surely, that it was warm out, and that summer was on its way.
Across students’ faces, the tiniest hint of a smile was evident as they felt something they hadn’t felt in a long, long time—hope.
The students reported suddenly feeling incomprehensible energy. They went from barely wanting to drag themselves to and from their dorms to running around, blasting music and playing can jam and whatever that weird trampoline game is.
One student reported, “It was incredible. It felt like the time I drank 10 5-Hour Energy shots so I could finish my work, except natural and filled with joy instead of despair.”
The excitement soon faded, however, when the next few days were windy and cold. “It was nice while it lasted, but now I guess I’ll go back to suffering,” another student reported.
