Stratford Style Guide: Part V

Hey nonny nonny! We are deeply sorry that we did not release an issue last week. What, pray tell, could have kept us from reporting on the fabulous fashions of the Farm? Only our Very Important and Demanding Work, such as gathering in a cottage and watching "the Simpsons" version of Shakespeare’s hit play Hamlet. We’re sure that you, as loyal fans and lovers of fine literature, all understand. We are also sorry that you missed a great party thrown by yours truly. Although every night is always a fun night at the Farm, this night was cause for even more festivities. Early Decision college stuffs were submitted and we didn’t have class the next day, but more importantly, it was Halloween! Halloween is fashion’s most important holiday. When else can one expose their true selves through being someone else? That night proved to be eventful for several reasons, but the truly wonderful stylings of the attendees of Dairy Cottage’s soiree were quite enthralling.Long-time benefactors of thestratfordstyleguide and parents of Cornelia Smith ‘15, Mindy Kotler ‘74 and Dwight Chichester Smith III generously sent a care package with candy, hedgehog-shaped lip balm, themed pasta, and a set of adhesive mustaches of old famous people. These mustaches inspired the girls of Dairy Cottage (and Augustus Gilchrist ‘15) to use the mustaches as statement pieces for their newly acquired personas. Katie Casado ‘15 donned a full handlebar mustache that complimented her stellar space buns. Alexandria Shook ‘15 really got in touch with her roots-her southern, cat-like roots, that is. With a red mustache that was an exact match to her red hair, Shook showed us that the only thing separating Reba McEntire from Garfield was a little bit of facial hair. Our time in England has definitely rubbed off on Gilchrist, as the Charlie Chaplin-esque mustache he decided to stick on his face matched not his looks but his deep understanding of the country’s cultural history. Last but definitely not least is Cornelia Smith ‘15, who definitely set the bar for old man farmer chic. With a shockingly natural gray ‘stache residing above her upper lip, it was a surprise to see Cornelia Smith ‘15 the next morning with a freshly shaven visage.Eli Feliciano ‘15, a frequent feature of thestratfordstyleguide, really saved the day with his great DIY’d superhero costume. Not stooping so low as to mimic trademarked superheros or sidekick sellouts, this lad overcame the basic with this individual look. Eli Feliciano ‘15 utilized a red Delta Airlines blanket as a cape, a green t-shirt, gray sweatpants, and two light blue hand towels wrapped around his wrists. You might be thinking, Wow, that’s a really awesome outfit-but why? After a very exclusive interview, Feliciano divulged to us his secret power: feeling more comfortable than villains. We were underwhelmed by this explanation but at least he looked stylin’!We have terrible news for you all: next week is thestratfordstyleguide’s final issue. I know this is upsetting to all you avid readers, but weep not! The fashionable fiends of the Farm will be in Exeter, in the flesh, after Thanksgiving break. Be prepared. And make sure to check out our Finals Week edition-it will be great. xoxo, Coco and Katie
