Golf Looks to Conquer the Course
As the snow melts and grass patches start to ap- pear, Exeter’s golf team will be chipping away in an- ticipation of a successful season. The season’s schedule is packed with more than 15 matches, 10 of which are away, against strong teams such as Deerfield and An- dover. With a fresh batch of talent, renewed vigor and positive attitude, Big Red hopes to come out swinging in order to fend off all opponents.“I have a good feeling about this season,” Captain and upper Paul Lei said. “The team has a lot of new talent this year, and this is the strongest set of golfers I have seen at my time at Exeter, including players who compete at the national and international levels.”Fellow team member Jordan Rohrlich agreed with Lei. “This year looks good. We have some great newplayers who promise consistency, which is something we didn't have last year,” he said. “Every year, Deer- field looks to be our hardest match in the season but, with the new skill this year, I feel like we have a shot.”Although the course is not ready yet, Big Red is staying positive and is training hard indoors to defeat certain opponents that defeated Exeter last year.“Our biggest competitors will probably be Deer- field and Andover, but I think we have the ability to beat them,” Lei said. “Snow is still on the ground and the course is not open yet, so the next two weeks will be vital to our preparation for the season. We will be using the indoor practice facility in the gym so we can be ready when we get back onto the course.”With a bit of luck and some warm weather, the team will be hitting the course in no time and getting ready for yet another great season.
