JV Field Hockey Ties Andover

JV field hockey played their hardest on Wednesday and put everything they had on the field for their last game of the season, against Andover.Although Exeter was in control of the ball for a majority of the game, the girls finished out the game, even in overtime, with a 0-0 score.“Our first half was slow and we played down to Andover’s level,” prep Bonnie LaBonte said. “We played with greater intensity in the second half and we kept the ball in Andover’s circle for a majority of the time. We dominated Andover in overtime but we couldn't score.”The athletes were proud of their performance on Wednesday, despite the disappointing outcome.“We were definitely prepared to play Andover, and we almost scored so many times,” prep Caroline Davis said. “Andover was one of our best games though and it was a great end to the season.”The nailbiter E/a match wrapped up the girls’ successful season, which closed with a 6-3-5 record. The team has come together over the course of the season and many young athletes have come into their own.“This year we have a very young team,” lower Meghan Tanguay said. “We have 11 preps on the team, but they’re all really strong, especially now at the end of the season. Over the season we’ve definitely grown stronger as a team. We have much better positioning and can pass and can work plays more effortlessly.”JV field hockey also struggled with having many injured players, but because of the small size of the team and the welcoming nature of the players, they have become a tight-knit group.“The JV field hockey team this year is a really small team, and because of this we are all very close,” prep Valerie Jackman said. “Having a small team allowed all of us to become close really quickly. This allowed us to really improve throughout the season.”
