Trendwatch
Hey guys!
From the runways to the streets, a new trend on styling outerwear has emerged! In the Fall Ready to Wear 2016 runway shows, we have seen many designers, such as Balenciaga and Off-White, style their coats and jackets slightly below the shoulder. The models keep the outerwear pieces loosely fastened, allowing them to slouch off either one or both of their shoulders. Fashion bloggers such as Aimee Song and Chiara Ferragni attending the show were also snapped styling this slouchy look. The new style lets you wear cool, fashion-forward jackets on days where the temperature isn’t too warm, but not cold enough for a heavy jacket.
This season, we have also seen a comeback of the color pink! In the street-style scene, fashion icons were spotted with this color in their outfits. Lots of pink was also found on the runway where Louis Vuitton and Mansur Gavriel threw different shades of the color into their jackets and shoes. Not only is pink making a comeback in women’s fashion, it is also appearing in men’s fashion too! In the Fall 2016 Ready to Wear men’s fashion week, designers such as Loewe, Pigalle and Gucci included different shades of pink into clothing pieces on the runway, suggesting that pink is going to be in the fashion scene for both men and women for a while.
This week, Rachel Luo ’17 looked stylish in her black jumpsuit, cropped denim jacket, sandal heels and black tote bag. Over the weekend, the 142nd Kentucky Derby featured many celebrities donning fashionable and preppy pieces. Country band Lady Antebellum arrived to sing the National Anthem. Their lead singer, Hillary Scott, wore a white shift dress with embroidered daisies and a large floppy hat. Model Kate Upton channeled more classic vibes in a green bandage knee-length dress, a large white boater with a black band and taupe pumps. Reality TV star Bethany Frankel went for a more trendy look in a pale pink figure-hugging dress, a black fascinator and t-strap heels. The day was filled with success by jockeys, the racing track and fashionistas in the seats!
Stay stylish,
Caroline and Tanya
