Trendwatch
Hey Guys!
This spring you cannot miss the trend of the Babouche shoes; even Vogue mentioned that these are the new “it shoes” of 2016. The pointed slipper-like flats were introduced by Phoebe Philo in Celine’s Resort 2016 collection and attracted much attention due to their unique style. Other designers such as Opening Ceremony and Victoria Beckham have also adapted these Babouche style shoes into their pre-fall 2016 collection, indicating that these shoes will be in the fashion scene for a while.
We also have good news for those of you who love men’s fashion. Balenciaga announced that they are going to release their first men’s collection at the Men’s Paris Fashion week this June. After Demna Gvasalia took over the French fashion house on October of last year, Balenciaga has been one of the most talked about brands. Gvasalia created many unique looks by combining the architectural style of Balenciaga’s founder with the rebellious Vetements attitude. We can’t wait to see what Gvasalia is going to bring to the runway!
This week, Abby Daugher ’16 rocked an interesting look with her fitted button down crop top, button down denim skirt and all white adidas superstars. Ursula Sze ’19 looked summer ready with her striped maxi dress, white converse sneakers and polarized aviators. Aidan Wolff-King ’17 oozed personal style in his red Exeter bomber jacket, white dress shirt, neck tie, long khaki pants and black leather boots. Emma Norton ’17 wore a navy and white floral jumpsuit, complete with clubmaster Ray Bans and nude and gold flats. Ben Ferrucci ’16 looked classy in a button down embroidered with pelicans, khaki shorts and Rainbow flip flops. Lyle Seeligson ’17 rocked a bohemian look in embroidered jeans paired with a plain white tee and an olive colored jacket. Rex Tercek ’16 wore a flamingo patterned short sleeve button down and Nantucket red shirt. Michaela McCarthy ’18 flaunted a light blue sundress over a white lace bralette. Student Council presidential candidate Nico LeBlanc ’17 looked dapper in a yellow Hawaiian shirt and sailboat motif shorts.
Beware if you haven’t watched the season six premiere of “Game of Thrones”—we are too excited not to share the episode’s eye candy! Jon Snow (played by Kit Harrington) and the Night’s Watch wore furry, feathery capes similar to the one sent down Michael Kors’ Fall 2015 runway. Cersei (played by Lena Headey) wore a rust colored, conservatively embroidered wrap dress, which resembled the ship from Dorne returning to King’s Landing. Finally, Melisandre, aka “The Red Woman,” ends the episode by removing a gorgeous medieval red robe with full sleeves, and a revealing a major surprise underneath.
We hope you have a great week. We’ll be keeping an eye out for the hot styles at Upper Dinner on Friday!
Stay stylish,
Caroline and Tanya
