Hey, Trendsetters!
Over the weekend, Coachella kicked off their music festival in California with stars such as Ellie Goulding, A$AP Rocky, Calvin Harris and Jack Ü. Along with a killer lineup, Weekend 1 at Coachella was filled with A-List celebrities rocking the season’s hottest trends. Kylie Jenner outdid herself with cotton-candy colored hair, wearing a sequined bikini and high waist bottoms to the McDonald’s event. Other stars made appearances at public events hosted by Adidas, H&M and Lacoste. Emma Roberts died her hair a vibrant red, and wore a long sleeved blue sundress with velvet peep toe heels. The Weeknd and girlfriend Bella Hadid wore matching denim on denim ensembles and white sneakers.
Some major trends seen at Coachella were chokers, cutoff shorts, shorteralls, denim on denim and white lace. Other popular outfits included crochet dresses and matching sets. For beauty lovers, blue eye shadow, braids, dark lips, glitter, and metallic nails were popular for festival-goers. There were a few surprise guests at Coachella, including presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. Sanders appeared in a video introducing politically-inclined rap duo Run the Jewels on the main stage. Other celebrities made surprise appearances on stage, including: Kanye West, Rihanna, T.I. and Ke$ha.
While we wish we were scoping out the latest trends at Coachella, Exonians are still as fashionable as ever this week. We loved seeing Issy Wise ’19 in a casual look—light wash jeans, a grey bohemian sweater, and sneaker. Menat Bahnasy ’18 looked chic in a chambray shirt, printed pants and Birkenstocks, topped off with a man bun. Amelia Stucke ’16 flaunted a black and white floral circle skirt with a basic white tee. Bonnie LaBonté ’17 wore a red lace bodycon dress, minimalist gold jewelry, and white converse. Cory Mengden ’17 looked nautical in blue seersucker shorts, a button down embroidered with lobsters, and Sperry’s. Caroline del Real ’16 was stunning in a red maxi-dress with a side slit, over a maroon lace bralette and suede Chuck Taylor’s. Meg Bolan ’18 rocked a maroon printed mock neck dress and a dark yellow cardigan worn with a silver statement necklace. Anna Culter ’16 paired a short sleeved high neck blouse with black skinnies.
On Tuesday in New York City, the “I Voted” sticker was the biggest fashion accessory of the day. After voting in the primary, thousands of New Yorkers wore the stickers on their sleeves and bags, including celebrities such as Indre Rockefeller, Ashley Smith and John Swiatek. The sticker appeared all over social media in various places, showing that suffrage can indeed by stylish.
Stay stylish,
Caroline and Tanya
