Hey, Trendsetters!
The four-city marathon fashion week ended three weeks ago, and we have a list of some of the interesting trends on the runway shows. This upcoming fall-winter season will be all about the bright colors. Hedi Slimane, the designer of Saint Laurent, has created a to-die-for heart shaped bright red coat. Emilio Pucci also presented many colorful coats and tops on the runway, bringing all the bright summer colors into fall! Sequins are also a trend for the next fall-winter season, with designers such as Dolce and Gabanna, Gucci, Valentino and Ashish using colorful sequins to give a bright shine to their clothing. The statement coat is also appearing on the runway, attracting all eyes with its interesting colors, fabrics and silhouettes.
British Vogue has recently released a video of Rihanna on the set for a photo shoot of her collaboration with the famous shoe designer, Manolo Blahnik! The multi-talented star, who just recently presented her collaboration with Puma on the Fall-Winter 2016 New York Fashion Week, will release her limited edition capsule collection with Manolo Blahnik on the month of May. Rihanna’s edgy and original twist on the classic silhouettes of the Manolo heels makes them a unique work of art. We can’t wait to see what other projects she will do in the future!
This week, Julia Friberg ’17 looked cool and comfortable with her pastel pink turtle neck sweater, slightly oversized denim jacket, and a pair of black skinny jeans. Chris Lee ’16 kept it classy in a blazer and shorts, the perfect combo for early spring. Gracie Williams ’17 also looked chic in her black fitted sweater, paired with an a-line tweed skirt and a pair of black ankle boots. Arielle Lui ’18 looked ready for spring showers, with her bright yellow raincoat and red rain boots. Maddie Toole ’16 rocked it in a light pink jean jacket. Michaela Corvi ’17 looked fabulous in a perfect winter-to-spring transition dress and simple cardigan. Chris Agard ’17 wore cool neutral chinos paired with a grey marled button down.
The mule sandal is one for the books—comfortable and elegant, this chic trend is the shoe of the season! Open-toed and slip on mules have appeared all over spring 2016 runways, from Gucci to Céline. Stars such as Jennifer Lawrence, Dakota Johnson and Solange Knowles have sported them in effortlessly flawless style. The mule comes in various heel heights, and dresses up any outfit, creating the appearance of a longer and leaner silhouette.
We hope your spring term is off to a good start! Good luck with classes and happy senior spring to the class of 2016!
Stay stylish,
Caroline and Tanya
