Hey Trendsetters,It’s come down to the last few weeks of winter term, and the weather seems to finally have gotten the memo. While winter may be tough to handle for some, it is important to keep in mind that all seasons were created equal and each should have its chance to shine. We’ve been loving the winter styles spotted around campus this last week. Lydia Anderson ’19 looked dashing in simple black jeans, brown leather riding boots and an army green jacket. Chase Redd ’16 went with the wintery and woodsy aesthetic in his white wool fuzzy coat and light colored jeans. Health instructor Michelle Soucy looked beautiful in a purple cowlneck sweater with a purple and white striped long sleeve undershirt. Bel Amaral ’17 looked lovely in a monochrome print dress with a grey knit sweater layered over top of it matched with black combat boots. Eugene Park ’16 kept the winter at present but cozy in a grey and white nordic-themed sweater with intricate detailing. The Oscar De La Renta fall collection just hit runways and looked absolutely stunning. The collection was grounded in silver and burgundy, infusing a little bit of sparkle into otherwise somber colors. He made sure to add plenty of fur trims on collars and cuffs as well, which appeared mostly in black but also in funky colors such as teal. Jacquard was also heavily featured which added weight and texture to each of the pieces. As always, there was a delightful combination of gowns and everyday items, giving us the option of glamorous floor length ball dresses and sleek cuts for everyday.Although New York Fashion Week presented all sorts of romantic and whimsical styles like those previously mentioned, there was a massive influx in dramatic, edgy bob cuts. The hint of downtown chic took the runways by storm on shows such as Alexander Wang. Combined with short bangs, the ultra short hairstyles have been a huge fashion must. For those daring to take the plunge, the upcoming spring season is the perfect occasion to try it out!If you’re interested in writing for Trendwatch next year, look out for an application in the next few days!
