Hey Trendsetters,Happy New Year! Chinese New Year, that is. Prada recently announced a new line in honor of The Year of the Monkey. Its line features monkey keychain accessories, kitten heels, pointed-toe flats, and and croc bags, all in bright golds and reds. Considering that these two colors are symbols of good luck and fortune in China, the pop of color is a perfect twist to these classic silhouettes that are featured in Prada’s line.Although the snow has been relentless, those “cozy” style outfits have been looking great around campus. A big fan of this look was Tommy Song ’16 who kept it simple in a maroon sweater, a blue pinstriped button down, coffee colored pants and an oversized fluffy scarf.  Margaret Kraus ’18 dressed it up by pairing some heeled booties with black pants and an oversized fair-isle turtleneck. Aden Choate ’17 rocked the fur coat trend by pairing her camel suede jacket with a denim mini skirt and black tights. Ernesto Brown ’16 has been looking on point these days in a unique neutral patterned fleece. Jake Malasek ’17 demanded attention at Abbot Casino in a brightly coloured, pastel, mixed pattern plaid blazer. Rohit Rajiv ’16 killed it in an eye-catching red blazer and blue tie combo. Oh how we’re ready for spring!Queen Bey killed it (as always) at the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show this past weekend performing her new single “Formation.”She strut across the field in a sexy, military inspired look that payed homage to Michael Jackson’s outfit from the 1993 Super Bowl Halftime Show.  It showed off her gorgeous legs and fit the hype of the song perfectly.  Unfortunately, there’s been some controversy over her choice of song, given the underlying message of black power.  Critics noted possible references to Malcolm X in the choreography and the dancers’ outfits.  But in the end, we just can’t get over how fabulous the whole performance was.Several fashion houses have just announced that they will be paying tribute to David Bowie in their upcoming collections. Although houses such as Balmain and Miu Miu have been inspired by Ziggy Stardust in times past, Burberry, Gucci, Jean Paul Gaultier and Maison Margiela have announced their upcoming homages. We are anticipating looks filled with sparkle, androgyny, and a wonderfully alien twist—after all, Public School has already sent out a men’s collection entitled The Man Who Fell To Earth.xoxo,Lexi and Julia
