Trendwatch
Hey trendsetters!
We survived what we thought was going to be a terrible blizzard but made it into a gorgeous week! For once the weather spirits have looked down kindly on us gentle New Hampshire souls, and we really do appreciate it. StuCo President Rebecca Ju ’16 looked lovely with her chic bob and simple pieces, one of which was a fine white linen top embroidered with thick blue threading. The greek/nautical colour palette reminded us of warmer, happier days, and really went with this week’s heat wave! College counselor Sherry Hernandez looked super cute in a geometric, striped dress with bright colors grounded in navy, and matching navy blazer. Megan Smith ’16 wore a cropped pink fuzzy sweater, black and white check skirt and knee high boots with a cute quilted detail. Taking advantage of this week’s weather, Charlotte Dillion ’16 looked quite dashing in a maroon lace mini skirt and black turtleneck. Stevie Upton ’16 was feeling the warm vibes in a yellow Hawaiian shirt and electric blue vest. Hannah Elwell ’16 kept it professional in a gorgeous tweed coat paired with a navy cap-sleeve dress and nude loafers. Gracie Williams ’17 looked fantastic in a earthy green leather skirt and black top.
This week was the Paris Men’s Fashion Shows, and the street-style represented did not disappoint. Featured prominently were statement coats, whether through neutral toned, luscious furs (faux and authentic) that swallowed up their owners, chic monochromatic woven Chanel-esque coats, or comically embellished bomber jackets, outwear took over the scene. Load up on your highly structured wools, wide lapels, starched collars, cozy accent piping, and dyed feathers and you’ll fit right in. Ultimately, the dress code is POP and you’ll fit right in.
In addition, we’ve found some on trend ways to style your turtleneck for these more mild winter days. Simply layer over your favorite oxford, button up halfway, and tuck in for a chic, retro vibe. Pair plain turtlenecks with patterned shirts, or just keep it simple for a less-is-more appeal.
Lululemon has always been a topic of discussion in the world of fashion and money. Their stocks went up in the last quarter of 2015 and their numbers are expected to keep rising. Wall Street typically has had varying viewpoints in the last few years as to whether they are on the up or down, however, this seems to be their year. And for the fashion world, that only means good news. Lululemon has plenty of new ideas for the spring and summer of 2016 —including the revamping of their pants selections. And now, their finances will allow them to make the best of 2016.
Xoxo,
