Hey Trendsetters!
Welcome back to the arctic and welcome 2016! The color of the year has already been named and it’s mustard yellow! Designers are reviving this color and incorporating it in everything from resort runway styles to ready-to-wear street swag. Not many colors can be used quite as flexibly throughout the seasons. For the rest of this cold winter, try pairing a strong mustard turtleneck with gray jeans and an oversized coat. This look will keep you both warm and stylish.
The Golden Globes were announced this past Sunday night and everyone looked stunning. It was hard to pick favorites, but here are a few of ours: Kate Hudson played with proportions and vertical lines in her custom Michael Kors beaded bandeau gown. Flawless as ever, Zendaya made a statement in her maroon, three-tier Marchesa gown. Star Jennifer Lawrence showed just the right amount of skin in a Dior Haute Couture red silk crêpe gown with cut out details. Actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley went with a timeless, fully-beaded, champagne Versace custom gown for the carpet.
Although the weather has made it difficult to keep up our appearances, some looks really stood out this week. We appreciate the efforts to stay winter chic. Kaleigh Conte ’18 went for a classy look this week with her all-black ensemble, accented with a pop of red in her Ralph Lauren booties. Meg Bolan ’18 looked fantastic in a pair of black and white loose patterned trousers paired with a clean black top. Stylish as always, Matt Brooks ’16 kept it classic in his blue quarter zip, fleece-lined khakis, bean boots and ravishing accent scarf. Connie Cai ’17 looked lovely in a striped monochrome sweater dress. Michele Chapman rocked a statement woven cape with a red piped detail. She kept it simple underneath and accented with metallic jewelry. Sami Atif looked fresh in a bright orange bow tie with a cozy cardigan and khakis.
Winter Formal had a great turn out this year and there were some great looks across the board. Emily Robb ’17 looked stunning in a lace lilac slip dress. Isaac Choate ’19 went for a pop of color with a red blazer paired against an-all black outfit. Staying with the winter theme, Tess Aalto ’18 stood out in a metallic silver halter dress.
Enjoy the rest of the week!
Until next time,
Julia and Lexi
