Hey, trendsetters!
This week has brought us an oh-so-lovely mix of weather, bringing out different styles along with it. The upper class was looking rad this week, and keeping it classy — Anishta Khan ’17 rocked a color-blocked knit dress to keep off the cold. Its geometric print and muted colors were appropriate for the season, but kept the look interesting. Also minimalist was the always chic Caroline Davis ’17, who wore a monochrome striped mini dress matched with tall rain boots. Emily Green ’17 wore a blue woven blazer with adorable button and pleat details, complemented by simple bottoms. SP Agata ’17 looked elegant in a gingham Oxford and navy sweater, paired with simple bottoms and loafers. Another classy member of the upper class was Caroline Colbert ’17 who killed it in black heeled booties, a black maxi skirt and a classy grey, high collared tank. Representing the wonderful senior class this week was Melody Nguyen ’16 who looked cute in a tight white skirt, paired with a maroon top and leather boots. We really loved seeing the Young mother-son duo looking snazzy as ever. Lee Young ’82 rocked the western theme with an embroidered babydoll top and flared jeans. She finished her look off with a classic pair of cowboy boots. Jimmy Young ’16 kept it interesting with a mix of seasons. Jimmy’s shocking combination of a royal blue hawaiian shirt and Timberland boots worked well on Wednesday’s rain storm.
Vogue recently endorsed the clog trend, which generally means that it’s one to stick around for a while. The wooden shoes are now back in, playing up the ironic look of styling clunky pieces to add edge to an outfit. The ugly-pretty look was also seen around in the summer in the form of Birkenstocks, and is here to stay for the fall! Clogs are right on track with the 70s trend which has been around for the past few seasons, and are said to be in for a chic comeback, emphasizing comfort and the “feel good” aspect of fashion.
For all you fashion fiends keeping up with Milan Fashion week, we’ve picked a few best dressed celebrities in attendance. We admire Alexa Chung’s genious in pairing a gold midi skirt by Gucci with a chunky striped sweater and a classy pair of black heels. Rocking Salvatore Ferragamo separates, Dylan Penn looked amazing with the bright red, black, white and tan color blocked ensemble. Helena Bordon went for a more simple look at the Giamba Spring/Summer 2016 show. Her cropped white trousers and looked stunning with her brown high heeled boots and navy kimono style jacket.
Layered dresses have been seen all over Milan’s street style and have been seen on style icons Julia Sarr-Jamois and Natasha Goldenberg. We really want to borrow this high-fashion look, because it also can offer a way to reuse summer sundresses. Simply pair one of your favorites with either a button down or long sleeve t-shirt. You can mix patterns or stick to the basics. We love this cute way to keep warm as the colder months are beginning to roll in.
See ya next week!
xoxo,
Lexi and Julia
