Trendwatch

Hey, fashion folks,

We’re well into spring, it’s almost midterms week, and we’re going strong. Only a month and a half until summer! Although the weather has been a little on the cooler (and miserable) side this week, we’ve still managed to see some rather lovely outfits—you guys never cease to amaze us!

This week, looking fly as always, Ernesto Brown ‘16 was spotted on campus in sorbet colored shorts and a matching bowtie. Nicha Sophonpanich ‘15 looked beautiful in a lavender tank top with black piping and a pair of sleek black jeans. We really loved Andrew Eigner’s ‘15 casual look with navy boat patterned shorts and a long sleeved t-shirt. Jenn Hawley ‘15 was seen in a sassy maroon suede jacket. Zefirah Lawal ‘17 looked wonderfully quirky in a dark ensemble with a pop of baby pink. She added character with frilly socks, oxblood Docs and trendy glasses. StuCo President Benj Cohen ‘15 was styling pastel pink shorts with a wonderful printed Hawaiian style shirt. Finally, history instructor Michael Golay looked dapper in a classic ensemble of khakis and a gorgeous navy herringbone blazer.

In other news, keep your eye out for a fresh face on the runway in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Swedish runway model Elsa Hosk is rumored to become Victoria’s Secret’s newest Angel. Her doe eyes and big blonde hair will fit in perfectly on the runway with the rest of Victoria’s Secret Angels.

For all you sports fans, Nike is excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of their famous Air Max 90s. This sneaker will contain a cork upper with orange and black highlights. It will be released April 24.

Transgender model Andreja Pejic has just been named the new face of Make Up Forever. We’re really excited for her new contract as it marks the beginning of an era where LGBTQ models can earn the same high powered careers as their cis-gendered counterparts. Pejic will be a wonderful role model for all LGBTQs working in the fashion industry.

On another serious note, fashion is taking into consideration the footprint it is leaving behind on the planet. Most recently, designer Stefano Pilati for Zegna has been creating a stunning marriage between sustainability and couture. The collection launched recently with the runway covered in all sorts of greenery. With Earth Day this past Wednesday, we found this to be especially applicable—what a lovely connection between fashion and eco-friendliness!

xoxo
