Summer Programs

Are you doing all that you can during your summers to supplement your amazing Exeter education? If you are, great! If not, you should consider applying for a summer enrichment or global exploration program! Summer activities are not only beneficial for bolstering your college application, but also to broaden your horizons as a human being. There are a multitude of programs on offer; some will keep you state-side, and others will take you as far as Japan.

These opportunities presented have allowed me to discover new interests and hone in on specific aspects of my passions. The summer after prep year, I participated in a law program at the Michigan Supreme Court, a journalism program at Ohio University’s Scripps School of Journalism as well as a language immersion program at Pomona College with the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy. The summer after that, I attended a crew camp with the Detroit Women’s Rowing Association and studied a month in Barcelona with the Oxbridge Academic Program. These experiences have profoundly impacted the way I see the world and has also granted me unprecedented opportunities to improve intellectually. Also, the cultural and historical education was second to none! While preps and lowers will need to independently research summer enrichment opportunities, uppers and seniors will gain exposure to various summer opportunities during the college counseling process. It’s not too late to make the most out of your summer for this year, start now while the opportunities are in abundance and the deadlines have not yet passed!
