Trendwatch
Dear Fabulous Friends,
This weekend was quite eventful, especially with the biggest (and only...) fashion event of the school year, Abbot Casino. After days, or for some, weeks, of pondering what to wear to the event, many showed up looking classy as ever. We saw some looks that we especially liked.
Emma Kim ‘16 made a statement in a red strapless jumpsuit, strappy heels and slicked back ponytail. Andrew Turner ‘15 looked dapper in his ensemble, which included a mustard brown sweater vest, grey-blue button down, grey jacket and yellow printed bow tie. We love the earth tones. We also loved the money tie that Ben Hogoboom ‘15 sported. It fit the theme of the event quite nicely. Tan Nazer ‘16 wore a unique grey floral structured fit-and-flare dress. James Quinn ‘15 graced us with a taste of spring in his pink and green Lilly Pulitzer shorts, polo shirt, and blazer, casual and cheery on such a cold, winter night. Janet Chen ‘15 rocked a sparkly grey strappy dress and amazingly electric blue pumps. Speaking of sparkles, Brooke Detweiler ‘15 stole the night in her black halter crop top and a-line, black sequined maxi skirt, accenting the monochromatic look with a turquoise statement necklace that blew us away.
Aside from Abbot Casino, we saw some solid looks on our snowy campus this week. Grant Schultz ‘15 wore a unique pair of plaid grey and red wool tartan pants which looked quite warm and comfortable. Casey Osborne ‘15 also looked warm in a furry grey zip-up moto sweater. We like the idea of a structured sweater. We loved math instructor Jeff Ibbotson’s sophisticated maroon plaid scarf with green and blue checks. It was simple and classy. Speaking of classy, Francis Lee ‘15 looked classy as usual in structured crisp grey jacket, white button down and matching white pocket square. He brought the outfit together nicely with a grey linen tie with light blue and white stripes.
With Valentine’s Day coming up this weekend, looking cute in the hazardous weather is an especially difficult but important task. Whether you're looking for something to wear on your date with that special someone, or you’re just single and feeling ready to mingle, we always recommend sticking with the timeless rule of fashion: less is more. You can never go wrong if you keep your look simple and sophisticated.
There’s really nothing that can compare to the feeling of a nice pair of La Perlas while you’re listening to “Earned It” in anticipation for “50 Shades of Grey,” which we’re assuming everybody is planning to go see this Saturday. Regardless of the content, the movie is sure to feature a multitude of the sharpest suits any of us have ever seen in our lives and more than enough velvet for our liking.
Make sure to treat yourselves and really thrive this Saturday no matter where you lie on the love spectrum.
xx,
Helen and Millie
