Dearest fashion-inclined friends,
Welcome back to the winter term realities of dry skin and Bean Boot crises. We understand the difficulty of dressing your best in the frigid winds, and the temperature is probably dropping as you read this. However, we are here to let you know that all hope is not lost! You can stay warm and still look fabulous!
This week on campus we saw some looks that proved our point. Art teacher Max Kuo looked incredibly hip in a unique black sweater patterned with electric blue triangular shards, black joggers and tough leather boots. The head of the department, Tara Misenheimer, also looked edgy in her signature sleek black heeled booties.
Kristina Elhage ‘14 was spotted in Exeter this past weekend looking fresh in a furry black coat and destroyed denim. Julia Friberg '17 was keeping warm in an olive green parka with a fur lined hood. Ore Solanke '17 killed it in a turquoise, white and black watercolor pattern shirt, high-waist, dark-wash jeans and a black cardigan. Also, Emily Lemmerman ‘15 wore an elegant, white flowy scarf with intricate gold designs that we loved.
If you’re having trouble feeling inspired to keep your looks fresh and also stay warm, an easy way to keep the cold out is through layering. Layers can become a bore, so we suggest experimenting with them in a more unexpected way. An easy way to do this is coats on coats on coats. Be shameless with your coats because it’s like the arctic out there.
If your feet are feeling the cold too, layer multicolored socks one on top of the other and let the colors peek out by wearing a pair of brogues or sneakers with them, rather than hiding them under a pair of boots.
We also have some exciting and somewhat ridiculous fashion news for you this week. Justin Bieber is once again the talk of the town, but this time it’s for a fashion campaign. He just finished working on a project for V Magazine’s Music Issue with none other than the infamous Karl Lagerfeld. In fact, the magazine comes out today, with an interview and photos of the Biebs taken by the fashion guru Lagerfeld himself. Bieber was also featured in a recent seductive Calvin Klein jeans and underwear campaign with Dutch model Lara Stone. Bieber fans were so infuriated by her up close and personal shots with the popstar that some even sent her online death threats.
We are also hot on a fresh trend this season: cropped pants and ankle boots. A pair of boyfriend jeans or printed cropped pants and heeled booties can make for a super sophisticated look.
We would like to finish with a very important tip to keep you glowing through the cold: always lotion up. Moisturization is extremely important! Neutrogena, Aveno, Jergens, Gold Bond, Aquaphor, you name it. Keep it in your room and even a mini one in your bag!
Stay warm and fashionably aware, friends!
xoxoxo,
Helen and Millie
