Bonjour Babes! It might be October, but the fashion weeks continue to make their rounds, with arguably the most iconic of all, Paris! We were in love with Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2015 show, which was Japanese-inspired. The show was centered around two beautiful, larger-than-human white orchids. The models looked elegant and exotic, decked out in pink, black, white and red printed silks and organzas that gave kimono-esque vibes.Karl Lagerfeld also made waves this week, as he always does. As opposed to last spring’s show, which took place in a make-shift grocery store, this show was all about protest and feminism. Cara Delevigne led the pack of models with her double-c emblazoned megaphone, and the rest followed in suit carrying poster boards donning phrases such as “Ladies First” and “Make Fashion Not War.” The signs may have accidentally reinforced the gender binary, but at least everybody looked great. In addition to the show, Karl Lagerfeld also released his own Barbie doll, modeled after the likes of, of course, himself. The doll cost $200 and sold out in approximately 1 day. Net-a-Porter even sold $200,000 worth of the dolls.Over here, where social change doesn’t seem to ensue so glamorously, we spotted a few great looks, even during the dreary weather. Avian Song ‘15 looked too cool to care in her black, cuffed overalls, white t-shirt, and red flannel that she wrapped around her waist. Keji Oladinni ‘16 kept it chic, even in the rain, with a tie-front, ivory, chiffon blouse. We also liked Sabrina Movitz’s ‘15 black tee with cut-outs at the shoulders, it gave off a casual but edgy look. Abe Kopun ‘16 looked sharp in a printed yellow bow tie and blue linen dress shirt. He paired it well with cool blue ked-like sneakers. If it’s one of those days and you’re having problems figuring out what to wear, we love layering. Try throwing an oversized sweater over a dress shirt or tee and skinny jeans. Brights are in this fall so don’t be afraid to keep it vibrant. Light jackets, a summer staple, can still work in this transitional weather as well.xoxo,Millie and Helen
