Happy Thursday babes,Although we were sad to see New York Fashion Week end, right across the pond, London Fashion Week was quick to follow. This past week, designers revealed their spring/summer ‘15 collections, which will be awaiting your purchase for this year’s tea and prom season.Although coverage of London Fashion Week doesn’t seem to be quite as high tech as New York’s, the shows are just as good, if not better. For instance, Mary Katrantzou diverged completely from her usual bright, geometric patterns and classic silhouettes, with an incredible new line. We always like Mary Katrantzou over here, but this constructionally minimalist collection, complete with intricate detailing and embroidery, was absolutely stunning. Her decision to stray away from the expectations for her line was risky, yet she killed it.Speaking of the Brits, we were recently re-inspired by British illustrator, graphic artist and designer Fergus Purcell’s collaboration with Marc Jacobs. The Marc by Marc Jacob’s Fall 2014 runway show last year looked amazing with Purcell’s poppy and edgy designs, splattered all over exaggerated silhouettes. It reminded us to strike up the bright colors and prints this season!Coming back to the Exeter Bubble, we saw some nice ensembles over on this side of the Atlantic. Fashionable “Faculty Member of the Week,” Mr. Feng, wore a sleek pair of grey sneakers with blue body and yellow polka dots, creating an inspiring pop of color in the Academy Building basement. Zaffie Lawal ‘17 went for a more minimalistic look, with a simple black sweater and leggings that contrasted nicely by white, Nike mid-calves and white, heeled jelly sandals.Sequoia Johnson ‘16 sported a subtle turquoise and black chevron printed shirt and silver chandelier earrings, for a more classy look. Scott Hermenau ‘15 also pulled off a unique print with an olive and maroon striped tie with song birds. We loved the individuality of these looks and we hope to see more as the term progresses.Have a lovely Thursday and stay fashionable Exeter!xoxo,Millie and Helen
