Life Advice
This summer, new students asked us questions about Exeter. Here are the answers:Q1: What’s the hardest thing about being a prep?OGPanda: Being so insanely awesome and having the upperclassmen not recognize it.Q3: How hard is it to get to know people the first few days at Exeter?OGYoosk: Not very hard. Not only will you be put into a dorm full of people of all grades that you don’t know, but you’ll also have classes with a lot of different kids. Everybody will be looking to make new friends, and it shouldn’t be difficult to find a lot of people that you get along with pretty well.Q4: What advice would you give for building friendships/community during the first few days of Exeter life?OGPanda: It's not uncommon for students to look up potential friendship candidates on Who's Who. When you find the perfect match, swipe right... I mean, call their extension and set up a date and meet your new friend.OGYoosk: Getting to know your dorm mates is a great start. Remember, those are the people you will be spending the next four years of your life with. Also, try to get involved in a lot of different clubs; you’ll be able to meet people who share the same interests as you. A lot of the new students are probably all nervous so you could hang around Agora and strike up a conversation.Q5: Am I allowed to create something in the art buildings even though I am not taking any art classes this year?OGSimpy: Not really. While our resources are open to all students, and exercising your creativity is encouraged. The studios are only for students enrolled in art classes. Additionally, there are art clubs that meet there every week which anyone can become a part of.
