Hello Fashionistas, The sun came out this week and so did the stars at this year’s Met Gala, which was held this past Tuesday in honor of British designer Charles James. There were fabulous, as well as not-so-fabulous (actress Maggie Gyllenhaal) looks this year, from celebrity Kim Kardashian in Lanvin to actress Marion Cotillard donning a single earring and classic Dior. Some definite stand-outs this year were former Victoria's Secret model Karolina Kurkova in a stunning silvery-blue Marchesa gown with floral details and singer Rihanna in an all-white crop top with shoulder pads and matching maxi skirt by Stella McCartney. Actor Ryan Reynolds looked dashing in a black velvet Gucci suit.British editor and model Alexa Chung looked surprisingly drab in a grey-blue Nina Ricci dress with ruffles down the front and a somewhat awkward hemline. Actress Hailee Steinfeld, on the other hand, wore an amazing black and white Prabal Gurung structured dress that flowed around her just perfectly. Speaking of black and white, artist Frank Ocean looked stellar in a black and white Givenchy suit.Even though some of us (and by some, we mean all of us) were unable to attend such a lavish event, there were still some great looks spotted on campus this week. Shaquille Brown '14 channeled her fall term in Ghana in a pair of printed, high-waisted, lime green trousers, a royal purple crop top and a red patent-leather belt that matched her shoes. Emily Lemmerman '15, on the other hand, put together a more understated look in a breezy, navy and white striped, linen tunic.Stefan Kohli ‘14  pulled off a classic but still unique outfit in a tan cord blazer, white and blue checked button down, navy cuffed pants, red and white striped socks, and tan suede sperrys.Hannah Piette ‘17 looked fab in chambray shorts paired with a black turtleneck and beaten white converse, for a creative and offbeat look. Also spotted this week was Olamide Ogumbambo '14 in a floral, square neck dress and black Doc Martens. Good things happen when you leave your room, and this outfit proved that. Going along with the spring print theme, Ernesto Brown ‘16 sported a pair of navy shorts with a tropical pink and green floral pattern. Is it an anteater? Is it a capybara? We’re not sure, but Sabrina Movitz ‘15 wore them well in print atop a pale pink dress with sleeves as short as Stalin’s temper. Nude flats covered the feet of this wily baleboste. Stay fabulous. xoxo, Millie, Helen, and Scott
