Trendwatch
Happy Thursday, Exonians!
We don’t know about you, but we here at Trendwatch are really loving this warm spring weather. We’ve already seen some fantastic warm-weather looks and we can’t wait for these next few weeks of the term to see what we have in store! Here’s to a sunny rest of the term!
First off, Zaidee Laughlin ‘16 rocked a simple, yet refined outfit early this week. Zaidee matched a cool, cream-colored knit sweater with a simple navy blue dress and the ever-classic white converse. The sweater itself had an interesting stretched or low-hanging look, giving the piece a great asymmetrical flare that kept the outfit from looking bland. Nicely done, Z!
We love it when our faculty members sport current trends, and Mr. BreMiller is no exception! This English teacher can often be seen with the ever-classic desert boots on a dry day, which should be a staple in every prep schooler’s wardrobe. These shoes can easily be dressed up or down, and are also quite comfortable. What’s important to remember with desert boots is that they usually come in bland colors, so pairing them with colorful or patterned socks is the way to go. Either way, Mr. Bre was already ahead of the game with a pair of argyle socks.
Weilin Chan ‘14 brought out a fantastic spring piece earlier this week when the warm weather was at its peak. We saw Weilin on the paths outfitted in two bright, springy pieces: a flowing dress and a colorful cardigan. Although this combination is popular in the spring, Weilin stood out with a nice color pairing technique that brought some new, fresh air along with it.
One trend we’ve noticed across campus is horizontal black and white stripes on skirts and dresses. A classic look—we’re not exactly sure why it’s made such a swift comeback, but we like it! In contrast, neon colors have also made a reappearance on campus with the warmer weather, Margaret Cohen ‘15, who always looks polished, wore a neat pencil skirt patterned with neon orange and pink daisies. She paired this with an elaborate white blouse whose flower cut-out pattern at the bottom complimented her skirt. Although not she didn’t fit neon trend exactly, Caroline Lu ‘15 looked fabulous in vibrant orange and pink shorts with a cats-eye type pattern. She matched the warm colors of her shorts with the coolness of a thin denim button down. We love when someone can put a spin on the typical preppy look while still managing to look classy.
That’s all for this week, as we have to handpick next’s years talented Trendwatch writers! If you wanted to apply for Trendwatch, but didn’t get the chance, please send us an email and let us know asap!
