Trendwatch

Happy Thursday Exonians!Trendwatch is back with yet another week of our campus’ best looks. The sun is finally out, too! It’s that time of year where we break out the pastels, and after a long, desolate winter, we’ve finally made it! Remember, with spring should come simplicity—nobody should feel the urge to overthink their outfits.Speaking of simplicity, Amanda Li ‘14 rocked a fantastic look on this past sunny Wednesday morning. Together with a pair of black jeans, Amanda sported a flowing striped t-shirt that matched a classic pair of white converse that really tied the whole piece together. Nicely done, Amanda! On a similar springy note, Ari Spahr ‘14 strutted a bright pair of pink and purple loafers to brighten up her look. Paired with jeans and a button-up shirt, the bright shoes added the perfect amount of spring color to her simply casual dress code. These two girls really hit the nail on the head with spring outfits—the color is there, but it’s not too overwhelming. We have always loved the sweet, classy fashion sense of Lydia Stahr ‘14. This week, she sported a purple skirt with an interesting embroidery pattern and hints of pink on the front. She matched this with a simple cream sweater (we loved the knitted pattern of holes on the shoulders), and light tan riding boots. It was the perfect blend of warm and cool weather fashion, but we aren’t surprised—Lydia usually gets her looks just right.Other than delivering a fantastic meditation this Wednesday, Thomas Clark ‘14 added some classic spring flare to his outfit. His softly colored pastel bow tie proved to be a great addition to the traditional suit and tie formal look. Not to mention that his spring colors came in the form of the ever-spectacular bow tie. Congrats on the great meditation and wonderful outfit, Thomas!Myles Haigney ‘17 represented the prep class well this week. Myles layered the pastels here in these early days of spring, with pale green shorts and a light pink button-down oxford. His hunter green patterned tie topped off the look, its rich colors both contrasting and complementing his pastel shorts. The mid calf socks were an interesting choice with the outfit, but they certainly showed off his personality. We saw several flowy pieces this week that were a breath of fresh air from the usually clean-cut preppy styles. Megan Do ‘14 and Marie Claire Whelan ‘14 showed off matching white maxi skirts from India. The elegant embroidery on the dresses was beautiful yet understated. Erica McCormick ‘16 showed off a little more color, with a rust, royal blue and gold blouse, complete with an elephant pattern. Erica has a sense of style all her own, and she certainly showed it with the vibrantly striped boat shoes she paired with this lovely outfit.Kieran Minor ‘14, never ceases to impress whether on stage or behind the piano, and his outfits are no exception. This week, he wore a great, celeste and patterned collared shirt under a light brown rugged sweater. One of the biggest trends this year has been matching blues and browns, and this trend certainly worked well for K-money.Also, don’t forget to submit your application to write our article for next year!
