Beloved Exonians,Get ready for some more snow! If you didn't think that winter could get any worse, well, surprise! It can! With only a few weeks left in the term, we're hoping for some classic winter looks to close out the season before the weather morphs campus into spring. In the spirit of savoring the last weeks of winter, with colder weather comes the Winter Olympics, and they're off to a hot start in Sochi.First off, team USA appropriately sported the ever-classic, quintessential American brand, Ralph Lauren. How could they not? The Americans graced the opening ceremonies in knitted cardigans with the Olympic Rings and, of course, the classic red, white and blue stars and stripes. These sweaters, that were available on Ralph Lauren's online shop and in stores, allegedly sold out only a few hours after the opening ceremonies premiered in the States. Matched with brilliantly white pants, our athletes looked like they had already won the gold—they killed it.And how could we mention Olympic fashion without the French? The typically avant-garde team France toned it down for the winter games decked out in a full Lacoste outfit. Switching it up a bit, French athletes wore light khaki pants with a simple, grey, puffy blazer-like jacket with the Lacoste alligator colored-in with le drapeau tricolore. Nous avons adoré! Dressing outside of the box for the Russian winter, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda decided to wear shorts—apparently nobody told them they had left the tropics. Either way, the brightly colored shorts were a nice addition to a dark winter. Our hosts of Olympic proportions, team Russia decided on a throwback for their opening ceremony look. The Russians greeted their fans on Friday night in knee-length, fur-lined Siberian jackets. They definitely has the home icedvantage, and they had their fans all fired up. Looks like it's going to be a great few weeks of competition, even if Sochi is in the sub-tropics.Back in our own Exeter, NH, you all impressed with your style that screams "if winter term and ice storms can't ruin my sense of fashion, then nothing can." As you know, we at Trendwatch love the classic winter sweaters and dark, warm colors, but we also appreciate when you spice it up with a fun pattern or vibrant hues. For example, white polka dots on blue seemed to be a favorite pattern this week. Kate Haering '17 went traditional with a baby-blue button down paired with khakis, but one couldn't miss the smallyet fun white polka dots covering her shirt. Innovative, Kate—we like it. Tina Safford '14, who has one of the most unique senses of style on campus, also graced campus with a light-blue, white polka dot button down. She paired it with plum colored jeans, just one hue of her wide collection. Earlier in the week, Tina also stood out with her exotic, geometric blue pants, presumably from her term abroad in Ghana. It's not easy to pull of such a unique look in the sometimes homogeneous town of Exeter, but Tina did it with her usual charisma.Harry Tibbetts '15 warmed our hearts this week with a bit of old-fashioned summer style. Harry paired a slightly more baggy cream shirt with a beautiful black tie covered with intricate golden sunflowers. To top it all of, he sported a tweed, blazer-style vest and his signature glasses, which made the whole look one-part rustic and two-parts scholarly. Well done, Harry!Bundle up, Exonians! It’s about to get really cold. Enjoy the Olympics!Stay stylish, Elle, Mia & Alec
