Introducing Humans of Exeter
With the recent influx of student-run Facebook pages on campus like “Phillips Exeter Compliments” and “Phillip Exeter Superlatives,” there comes a new page on Facebook: Humans of Exeter, modeled after the world-famous page Humans of New York.Created by lowers Chris Lee and Cesar Zamudio, Humans of Exeter was designed to showcase and highlight the people and sights that the town of Exeter has to offer and is one of the many reproductions of the well-known original page, including Humans of Paris, Spain, India and Amsterdam.“We started the page because we were inspired by Humans of New York, and we wondered, ‘Why can't Exeter be this interesting?’ Then we thought, ‘Maybe it is,’” Lee said. “The purpose of the page is to show the interesting stories and individuality of the inhabitants of the town of Exeter.”Many schools such as Andover and Taft have created similar pages as well, some of which have amassed up to 1540 likes. After a month of being launched, Humans of Exeter has garnered 235 likes. In future posts, people who have “liked” the page will not only see pictures of PEA students, but also those of many other Exeter residents.“We have to remember that Exeter is not just PEA, so we have a responsibility to show the stories behind everyone who lives in Exeter, New Hampshire,” Zamudio said. “We hope that people can truly learn from these pictures and get a sense of where people come from and reveal the stories behind every face in the community.”
