Trendwatch
Welcome back to campus, Exonians! First off, Trendwatch wants to give an enormous shout-out to the stunning class of 2014! We’ve made it this far—let’s get it. Here’s to a great senior year! To all you new students: welcome to some of the best years of your life. Exeter is an amazing place, and soon enough you’ll realize just how many different ways this is true.Although the reality of classes and coursework is beginning to sink in, several of you have already caught our eyes with your summer transformations. Rocking a colorfully patterned blazer and recharged confidence was none other than Harry Tibbetts ’15. Returning to campus, this guy was almost unrecognizable. Kudos to you, Tibbetts. Not very often do we encounter a handmade piece of clothing on campus, however this week Nora Cullen ’14 changed that trend. Gliding through Wetherell in a vision of navy blue, Nora’s boat-necked navy shirt caught our eyes with a great sailboat pattern. Major props to Nora’s mom who sewed it all together, it looks amazing! Sean Haggerty ’14 also styled a sweet pair of royal blue brogue shoes, which is a great way to add bright colors into your repetitive dress code. Well done! What would back to school be with out Back in Black? The lovely ladies of Dunbar Hall sported their classic black attire as they ran around campus to amp up excitement for their yearly bash. You girls always look hot while throwing a good party, and this year was no exception. One specific shoutout to Asile Patin’14.Perhaps it serves as your final goodbye to the warm days, but we’ve been noticing an abundance of neon, especially on the gents. Bailey Popeck ’14 and Devin Schroeder ’16 both went with the bold choice of bright peach shorts. These classically cut shorts gave both their outfits that preppy, professional feel, but the fun color really caught our eyes. Bailey was even bold enough to pair his pink shorts with a cerise and orange striped bow tie, and you know how we love bow ties. We loved the zapping yellow of Ethan McGregor’16’s neck tie, even if it wasn’t a bowtie. This neon piece paired with a calmer slate blue shirt really turned heads. Keep up the creativity, gentlemen. The senior ladies must have been feeling feisty this week because we noticed a lot of leather jackets. Davis Leonard ’14, who has just returned from a year abroad in the ever fashionable France, stunned in a floral dress with a baggy leather jacket. This girl knows how to mix spicy and sweet to make a très belle combination. Props to you, Davis, for not opting for leggings and a sweatshirt that Saturday night. Also rocking a floral stunner was Gabby Snowden ’15 who opted to style her open back purple floral dress with mid calf black boots. Just a touch of plum lipstick tied her outfit together and ensured that she was killin’ the game as usual. Claudia Teng ’14 and Yeji Jung ’14 both showed off their best looks topped with leather Tuesday. Claudia wore a navy patterned chiffon dress, while Yeji boasted a cream top with a sea green maxi skirt. Both girls were the image of refined summer fun, we wish the eighty degree weather would stay forever. One very necessary shoutout to Shaquille Brown ’14, Olamide Ogunbambo ’14, and Ade Ajanaku ’14 who were looking fantastic in Ghana. You girls managed to pull off a uniform combo of blue skirts and shirts like it was your job and for that we applaud you. All of you looked stunning, we can’t wait to see you back on campus.A quick note to close. We’ve spotted a couple people wearing flip flops/crocs and socks. You know who you are, and you know that socks simply don’t go with sandals. As for the crocs and socks pairing, please, don’t. Try again next week, we’ll be watching. We promise. On that lovely note, we hope everyone’s first week has been amazing! Till next week,Mia, Alec, and Elle
