We’re back, Exonians, Exeter has finally granted us a few days above 70 degrees, which sparked a summer style frenzy across the campus. Seersucker, a summer classic, was among the trends to work its way onto campus this week. Joe Platte ‘15 matched his seersucker shorts with a pale rose button down. Nothing wrong with sticking to the preppy classics; keep it up! Violet Davis ‘14 complimented her seersucker skirt with a dark tangerine v-neck t-shirt. This not only contrasted fabulously with the staple seersucker, but also gave the look a slightly more relaxed feel, though it was sharp nonetheless! Seersucker doesn’t have to be on just shorts and skirts: Thomas Clark ‘14 brought out a reversible seersucker bow tie this week. The pink from the reverse side peeked through every once in a while, highlighting the front, and he made an unconventional pairing of this tie with a wide blue, green and gray striped shirt. This made for an all in all interesting look that wasn’t quite preppy, but one hundred percent Thomas. The preps of Bancroft were looking stylish this week. Micah Pollak ‘16 showed off an outdoorsy yet cute look with an olive green safari-type button down, khaki shorts and a leather belt. This super-athlete would look good in anything, so we enjoyed her innovation. You make us wish we were out in the bush, instead of at our carrels. Audrey DeGuerrera ‘16 opted for a more urban look as she ran around collecting lower rep signatures. She wore a simple black skirt, baby-blue tank top and navy cardigan. This simple trio of colors allowed you to focus on her signature piece: a long necklace with a charm made out of wooden gears. Who doesn’t love a well-dressed politician?Catching our attention early in the week was Nik Bergil ’14, a pioneer of the Eldredge knot. An interesting take on an everyday tie knot, the Eldredge has recently taken menswear by storm, and makes any average tie look extraordinary (if you haven’t seen one, you seriously need to Google it). Nik also kept a sleek yet simple look at last weekend’s Hoyt Tea with a well-fit blazer and a folly polka-dotted tie (not to mention his lovely date, Eve Friedland ’14, in a patterned burnt orange dress). This couple definitely knows how to keep it real.Sporting a vintage Native American print leather belt was none other than Quinn Larkin ’14. The belt features a dark Native American pattern on sandy brown leather. Rarely do we see a great belt, but this was without a doubt an exception. Well done, Larkin.Looking to improve your style, fellas? If you look put together, stepping out of your dorm in a fresh pair of sneaks usually makes you look great, except watch out for those lame style rumors that are always flying around. Even though your dad always tells you how important it is for your belt and shoes to be the same color, you shouldn’t follow that rule too strictly. Sure, you look alright if your chocolate brown belt matches your chocolate brown shoes, but you also look like a try-hard (and nobody wants to be a try-hard). Here at Trendwatch, we see belt and shoe combinations as an easy way to add some color blocking to your everyday style. Next time you’re thinking about coordinating your belt with your shoes, try different shades of the same color—you’ll look great. Stay stylish,Elle, Alec and Mia
